SOLIDWORKS Supports FIRST Tech Challenge Teams

It�s time to roll out our support for the FIRST Tech Challenge teams for the 2018-2019 school year.  Apply for sponsorship for your FIRST Tech Challenge team directly from SOLIDWORKS .  Last year, SOLIDWORKS sponsored the first FIRST Robotics Competition Regional in Istanbul, Turkey, and then attended the FIRST Championships.   In April, we were so excited to see hundreds of teams descended on Detroit, Michigan and Houston, Texas. Students from around the world competed in some of the most exciting STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) events: The FIRST  Championships.  We visited with many FIRST Tech Challenge teams.  Team  4347 Nano Gurus impressed us with their robot design.  The Nano Gurus explained how they used SOLIDWORKS to create the models of their robot. Guest Blog Post from Christine Matheney from Microsoft I had the opportunity to participate in FIRST Robotics while in high school; it is these core values that have made me who I am today. I'm sure this is a story you hear from FIRST alum often, but I wanted to share my own story with you as well as why our team at Microsoft is so excited to put on the Imagine This Contest . In high school, I was part of a Girl Scout FIRST Robotics team who met at NASA. It was about 30 miles between my high school and our robotics lab, and I had amazing parents who drove me to and from the lab after school for three years. We had a blast - it was a team of brilliant young women, super supportive mentors, and a lot of creativity. Hashtags and Robots and Prizes, Oh My!

Enter the FedEx Innovation Challenge to win big money and prizes! The 2016 FedEx Innovation Challenge , an interactive social-media competition, is back and this year will be open to all FRC and FTC teams in the US. The Innovation Challenge takes place from January 9 � February 21, 2016.   Part problem solving, part creative challenge , this fun and engaging competition will consist of math and science problems, scavenger hunt activities, and more. Best of all, it�s super easy to play. Participating teams are required to submit responses in the form of a photo using either Twitter or Instagram. All responses will be judged on the accuracy of the answer, creativity of the response and the level of team participation and spirit.
