FIRST Tech Challenge Tech Update:   Teams participating in the FIRST Tech Challenge can now use Googles TensorFlow Machine Learning technology to detect and track Gold and Silver game elements. Teams can access Googles TensorFlow technology through Blocks or Java programming.   TensorFlow can identify Gold and Silver game elements using an Android devices built in camera or through an externally connected camera. A detailed tutorial is available that demonstrates how to use this TensorFlow technology is available here!  TensorFlow is Google's "machine learning" technology. It is a form of artificial intelligence. The software can "learn" and identify patterns and use this to do things like recognize when a Gold block is placed in front of the camera. For our software, Google "trained" the system (by showing it pictures of our Gold and Silver blocks in different positions and under different lighting conditions and backgrounds) so it would learn what...

Intelitek invites FIRST Tech Challenge participants to be part of the beta launch of Coderz, an engaging online learning environment for robotics Coderz is an innovative, web-based platform for robotics education that serves as an ideal tool for anyone interested in a highly engaging and motivating robotics programming environment. Coderz is appropriate for beginners, as well as advanced programmers as it can be used with an intuitive GUI for Blockly and Java coding. FIRST is working together with Intelitek to provide programming software for the Android, Qualcomm SnapDragon, called Coderz. Coderz is not yet an approved competition option and works only in autonomous control. We see FIRST teams as a major part of our evolving Coderz community, which is why we would like to give 250 FIRST members from across the U.S. the opportunity to be the first to experience the Coderz platform, helping to make this program the best it can be for our FIRST teams. Whether you are a...

Our next installment of  FTC Tech Talk  gives a more in-depth look at the three programming levels that will be available to FTC teams . Ken Johnson describes the first level as an app that will be available to download on to your robot device and driver station device. The second level of programming that will be available is based on MIT App Inventor, which provides a scratch-like interface. The third level will be Java programming. Check out our video to learn more about the programming options that will be available next season.   MIT App Inventor:  http://appinventor.mit.edu/explore/ Android Studio:   http://developer.android.com/training/index.html For more information: Learn about the  FIRST  Tech Challenge Read the  Official  FIRST  Press Release Read the  FTC Technology FAQs webpage   Check out the  FTC Technology Forum
