Hello from the FIRST Tech Challenge HQ Team! It�s time to start preparing for our season launch, coming up fast in September! While it may seem early to be thinking about this year�s competition, now is the best time to be reviewing your �Getting Started Checklist�! Rookie teams need to be aware of what should be done in preparation for the season, to make sure your team is ready for FIRST Launch! You can start by finding the 7 Essential Steps for starting a FIRST Tech Challenge team. It all starts with understanding what the FIRST Tech Challenge is, and where you can find help in your own town! Joining FIRST Tech Challenge means becoming part of a team that works together alongside your local community to make it to the World Championship! Dear FIRST � Community, What makes a champion? In FIRST �, it means truly embracing our mission and our core values of Gracious Professionalism � and Coopertition � . It means pursuing the spirit of innovation. It means having a passion for using technology and engineering to make the world a better place. As many of you know, in 2017 we expanded FIRST Championship to two locations. Our primary intent was to make the life-changing excitement and inspiration of the FIRST Championship more accessible and affordable to more kids and teams. I�m proud to say we�re moving in that direction: 1,400 teams attended the 2017 FIRST Championship, 500 more than in 2016.  Of course, that�s out of more than 50,000 FIRST teams worldwide, so we�re doing this while still providing a very selective level of competition.  When we announced the dual FIRST Championship structure, we did not plan to host a culminating event for winning teams from both events. Name  Date  Dean's Homework Assignment The assignment is for FIRST Tech Challenge teams to support their local FIRST  LEGO League Jr. Partner by forming, mentoring or otherwise supporting new FIRST  LEGO League Jr. Teams and Events. Why is this great news? This is great for FIRST LEGO League Jr. because  FIRST Tech Challenge team members are knowledgeable about FIRST , and can be  excellent role models for young students.   It is great for   FIRST Tech Challenge team members because it�s an excellent way to give back, do FTC Outreach,  be involved in their communities, recruit future team members, and grow their FIRST  community. What does it mean to you?
