Alumni: Continuing in our FIRST Community

What do you think of when you think  FIRST ? Do you think of the people that you meet? The events you go to? Your Team? Other Teams? ROBOTS?!?!?! What do I think of when I think of FIRST ? I think of you. Yes you! Whoever you are reading this blog post. FIRST is a lot of things, but most importantly it�s the people . All the many things that FIRST is are nothing without the people who make up our community.  There are many ways to remain a part of the FIRST community after your time as a student on a FIRST Team ends! As a FIRST Alum, you can remain part of the community as an event-day volunteer and/or team coach or mentor; or donor; or advocate! In addition to the ways you can give back to FIRST , we want to stay a part of your life and continue to help you be successful. 5 FIRST Networking Tips

Hi! This is Michelle Long, Alumni and Scholarship Programs Manager at FIRST HQ. Can you believe that the 2014/15 FIRST Tech Challenge Season is almost over already? I hope that your season was as fun as mine was and that you used the opportunity to meet as many people as you could at the event(s) that you attended. One of the most important things that you can gain from your time on a FIRST Team is the incredible exposure to Teams and Participants from all over � even if it�s the next town over! Whether you knew it or not, a lot of your interactions were networking! Networking is one of those business �buzzwords� that people throw around a lot, and sounds really intimidating, but can be really natural and simple. Jump Into Your Future: FIRST Alumni and Scholarships

Hey there FTC ! This is Michelle Long again from the FIRST Scholarship Program . It�s that time of year again to start thinking about the FIRST Scholarship Program and life after FTC. Also check out the FTC Google Hangout that we had last winter with Timm Huffman and Kate Caulfield at Olin College of Engineering: again LOTS of good information. The FIRST Scholarship webpage is THE place to go for information on all FIRST Scholarships. We are currently in the middle of renewing last year�s scholarships and developing new ones for the year- we anticipate the new 2015 Scholarship Program going live in early September.
